Origin Energy is one of Austral Asia’s largest energy companies and has assets in gas and oil exploration, production, power generation and energy retailing. Their coverage extends from Australia to New Zealand and the Pacific and provides gas and electricity to over 3 million homes.

Their exploration and production side of the business contains gas reserves offshore and onshore including the Perth basin, Cooper and Surat and Bowen Basin in Australia, the offshore Bonaparte Bass Basins and the Northland and Canterbury Basins of New Zealand.

On the retail side of their business, origin energy buys and sells electricity on the spot market or what is referred to as the national electricity market (NEM).
